Where can I find a list of upcoming educational opportunities? Why should I join AzPPA? What types of photography do most of your members practice? Can I pay for meetings and membership with a credit card? Where are the monthly meetings held? Are there any volunteer opportunities at AzPPA? What are the benefits of being an AZPPA sponsor? What is the difference between AzPPA, PPA, and SWPPA? PPA is the Professional Photographers of America http://www.ppa.com and is the National/International organization. Some of the benefits include, but are definitely not limited to: • Access to reduced rates for various types of insurance like health or equipment. • Indemnification. If you are sued for lack of performance or things that are beyond control you receive legal support. • Discounted rates on Credit Card Merchant accounts. • Lobbying in Washington DC for photographer's rights and Copyright legislation. • PPA maintains and administers the Certified Professional Photographer program along with other photographer credentials. • PPA runs one of the largest print competitions. • Puts on a National convention covering three plus days every year. Check the PPA web site for more information. SWPPA is the Southwest District of the PPA http://swppa.com. It is responsible for putting on a convention every year along with a "Qualifying" Print Competition that gives you a head start for National print merits. If you receive a 'Seal' at district when you enter that sealed print at the next PPA International Print Competition you automatically receive a national merit toward your Master of Photography Degree. And finally there's us, AZPPA the Arizona Professional Photographers Association. This is the local state organization. We also put on a yearly convention, and print competition, several AZPPA All Day programs, monthly education programs, studio tours and other education events. In addition, this is your opportunity to meet and network with local photographers on a regular basis. We believe there is more 'Bang for your Buck' by joining AZPPA first as there are many more ongoing educational opportunities. As your business grows and needs more services and you wish to start participating on the National level then you would join the PPA also. Many of our professional members belong to all three and other photography organizations in their quest to stay on top of our ever-changing industry. Updated June 2011
